I'm still alive!
Yeah, its been 4 months since I've posted. Reason: school, work, and i still don't have a computer.
So what's new? I bought a new Magnavox DVDRecorder. I have 20+ VHS with all kinds of recordings: from BW music videos to TRL music videos, FOX Sunday line up of my then fave shows (Simpsons, XFiles, King of the Hill) and La Fea Mas Bella (Mexican version of Ugly Betty). I'm running out of room for them so I'm going to transfer most of the recordings onto DVDs and edit out all the commercials.
And speaking of shows, my new obsession is La Fea Mas Bella (Mexican version of Ugly Betty). Go back 4-5 entires in my LJ and you'll find a summary for it and the link. I'm guaranteed to have something to watch every day; it airs 5 days a week at 8 p.m. in Univision. Why I like: Jaime Camil. The guy is a sight to behold (and I mean it. The guy is gorgeous!) playing Fernando Mendiola (David in Ugly Betty). He's currently on my fave actors list (up there with SRK and Aamir) He's hilarious, charismatic, and adorable onscreen. He does both comedy and drama extremely well. There was one scene where during a serious fight between him and Lety (Betty), Fernando pours out his heart to her and desperatly trying to convince her to stay with him, it sounds corny but, the way he delivered the lines and his acting in that scene gave me goosebumps, and still does. I'll try to find it in YouTube and post it. And then there's scenes where he is just simply adorable, acting like a kid.
I'll leave you with a music montage I found in youtube that shows the love story between Fer and Lety. The song fits the video and the events that happened through the halfway point of the novela. Enjoy!

Ok, now that that's over...
Hi everybody. I'm back. Its been a while since I set foot into livejournal. I've had a pretty interesting and busy summer, the majority of the time being outdoors. I still don't have a computer, so no internet access either.
But now that I'm signed up and ready for Fall classes, I'll have on my hands not only plently of computers and free internet access, but also Photoshop = icons! With Fanaa on DVD and KANK pics all over the net, I can't wait to start making some--its been a while.

In movie news: Just as promised by the people at Hibsa (Cleveland's Portal to Indian Entertainment) they're screening KANK one last time in Parma Theater. Last weekend it was sold out, as it was everywhere else, so I didn't get to see it. I've been trying to reserve tickets the last two days but I've been getting an answering machine and a lady's name; nothing about KANK. Its the right number. I re-checked it 10x. I'm just gonna leave a message and reserve the tickets just as a always did. If I wait til' tomorrow, when I'm sure they'll have the "Please reserve" message on, there's no way I'll get tickets in time. Its only this Friday KANK is playing. Can't underestimate word of mouth about movies. If the reaction to KANK was positive, they'll be a full house and sold out signs once again. I hope I hope I can get tickets!

I'm almost finished with the entire 9 seasons of the X-Files on DVD (not in order). I finished S7 last week, commenteries and all. I stil get teary eyed watching the final scenes of "Closure". Til' this day I can't listen to "My Weakness" on my Moby:PLAY cd without getting goosebumps. The "all things" commentary with Gillian Anderson was insightful. Finally there's no doubt that Mulder and Scully did indeed sleep togheter in the teaser since GA says it herself. I can't believe that Chris Carter was thinking of ending the show with Scully's "expecting" news and Mulder's abduction. How messed up would that be! No real closure...well, its not like we got a real closure in the actual series finale. Ohwell, there's still the supposed XF movie sequel--if it ever gets made.

Anybody here watch spanish "telenovelas"--soap operas? I don't really watch em', except for one which is currently one of my fave shows and guilty pleasure: "La Fea Mas Bella" (The Most Beautiful Ugly Woman). It airs every weekday in the spanish network Univision. Its about a smart ugly-duckling who works as the secretary to the boss of this advertisement (?) agency "Conceptos". Here's a summary from wikipedia.org:
"La Fea Mas Bella tells a story of love about a young intelligent, sweet, and generous woman who is everything but attractive which is a problem in her world. She then gets a chance for a interview for a secretary of presidency in the top advertising company in Mexico which is "Conceptos". Conceptos is owned by two good friends Don Humberto Mendiola which is Fernando's father and Julián Villaroel. Unfortunately the Villaroel die in a accident and Don Humberto and his wife Teresita take full charge of Conceptos and the three children of the Villaroel which are Ariel, Marcia, and Ana Leticia Villaroel. Then after Don Humberto retires someone has to take charge and be voted to be the President of Conceptos. Now Fernando and Ariel are fighting to be President. Fernando is a a attractive man who is hilarious at times and very competitive and always reaches to get what he wants even if it pretty risky. He is also kind and warm heart but a inch shallow. Fernando Miendola ends up winning Presidency with the vote of Marcia his fiancee. Ariel then decides to get monthly reports from conceptos to bother Fernando and watch every step to try to find something wrong to win Conceptos in his favor. Leticia is then competing with Alicia Ferreira for the job but the only thing that will probaly help her is her beauty because she has no experiance and never worked a day in her life, she a very close friend of Marcia and Marcia recommended her to spy on Fernando. But ofcourse Lety gets the position and as her days of work begin she comes across in new friends and problems. Fernando gets into Finacial problems with Conceptos leaving him to do a big decision which is to make Lety the official owner for a certain amout of time until money is gain to get out of expenses they owe. Fernando and Omar are aware that Lety is the new owner and that they have to treat her in a good way because she has the power to do what she wants with Conceptos. So Omar suggest to Fernando to make her fall in love with him so she will never even try to do anything with Conceptos. Fernando then listens to Omar and starts flirting with Lety. This is when there will be a big change that will affect Fernando and even Lety in anyway including her looks."

So apparently its a pretty popular show all over. I really like it. It can be over the top at times. Like her facial expression, clumsy moments, and when she dances that make me shake my head and look over my shoulder to make sure noone is watching me watching this. But the rest of the time its funny and even heartwarming, esp. the times she writes on her journal. Another reason I like is because I know how it ends, or I think I know. She does get a make over and eventually gets the guy at the end. When and how its what's feeding my curiosity and keeping me watching the show. Its interesting watching how her boss's toughts and feelings slowly (very-slowly) change towards her even before the tranformation. Ah, I just love shows where the underdog comes out victorious at the end.
Well, this is it for now. I'm off to work and to call Hibsa for my KANK tickets. And to get some Wendy's crispy chicken sandwish 'cause i'm hungry and I luv me chicken! Adios.

Two days to FANAA!
*a week & four days til' I can see it. The theater that's screening its doing it not this Friday, but next Friday. :( But I wont be able to see it til' that Saturday, the day I come back from NYC. Now that's gonna be a busy day for me.
Oh, and BTW: LOST IS ON TONIGHT!!! The season finale to be exact. Can't wait! EEEEE!

If the scanner at the library lab (where i'm at right now) was working, I would scan the covers and the pics in the article right now. I'll try and do it next week, when the other computer labs with working scanners will be open.

Today, I am officially done with Spring Semester 2006! This morning I took my final examination in First Aid. We had a mock disaster. Fake blood everywhere, open fractures, wounds and intestinal spill on each of our victims (fake of course!). Our victim was a 17 yr girl, one of my team member's nieces. Man, was she a good actress! Moaning, crying like she was in real pain. Made the mock disaster even more believable! jThe whole thing was pretty intense since we only had 30 minutes to treat the victim, get her into a board, and carry her to the classroom (the whole senario took place in the college's basement; a humid, hot basement). We finished a little past the 30 minutes, but only because we were short two people. One, the only guy in our team, forgot the final was today. And the other one, believe it or not, sprained her ankle so she was in crutches which made it difficult for her to help us carry the victim. We managed to get two people from the other teams to help us. So in the end, we got a passing grade of 93%: A. Not bad at all. :)
